I'm excited because we get to start this Wednesday. Where they're actual training us on the first day by showing the basics of how to check in, our stations, and how to be prepared in case of emergency. We will also see if we make it on time because when we practiced on friday it took 1 hour.
I am going to start this wednesday. Im really exited to start and getting to volunteer here. We are going to get trained this day, and get a semi tour of the hospital. This pass friday my and marylin went on the bus to kaiser to calculate the time its going to take and its aprox. 1hr but we'll try to go on a faster route.
So i started already last week , it was okay. Wednesday i was on the front desk letting in the visitors. I gave each one a badge with their name and the patients room number. I liked being on the front desk i got to meet a lot of people, lots of different faces, i enjoyed my first day. My second day was alright, i was placed by the elevators guiding people to their destination and helping people look for parking. I got to walk around the hospital, and they showed us the recovery room where patients just gotten out of surgery rest. They send the visitors of the patients to a room next to the floor. I hope i get to do more things while im there. And also i hope we to get to work on a department.
Last week was our first week working at Kaiser and it well. On Wednesday when we got there Lisset took us on little training on how things work and how to check in. On the first day I was placed on the Admitting Room where a worker in the front desk helped me introduced myself to the other workers and to both mangers. After that they didn't needed help so I just stayed seated on the waiting room. On Friday it was better because I was placed somewhere else. We were on the main floor which is the first floor with the security guard standing next to her desk. My job for that day was to see if the visitors had a visitors badge and if they didn't they had to return back to the main desk to get one. The day was complete different because the security guard didn't felt good so she made me assist her to the bathroom. Also I noticed that on Wednesday the room had only workers that were older and saw only 1 young man. On Friday though, I saw a lot of diversity and women with new born babies which was really cute and some how made me feel happy. There's a lot of nice people and it looks like they care for each other.
